This Privacy Policy explains how Clevency ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Clevency website and services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
When you register, purchase, or contact us, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Password (stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it)
- CFA level and optional exam date
- Payment information (processed by our payment provider — we do not store card details)
- Messages you send us via the contact form
Information collected automatically
When you use the Platform, we may automatically collect:
- IP address and browser type
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Exam answers, scores, and diagnostic results
- Session data (stored in a cookie to keep you logged in)
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Platform, including delivering exam results and AI diagnostic reports
- Process payments and provide purchase confirmations
- Generate personalised AI study plans based on your exam performance
- Send transactional emails (purchase confirmations, password resets)
- Respond to your support enquiries
- Improve the Platform and fix technical issues
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
3. AI-generated study plans
Your exam results (score, topic breakdown, weak and strong areas) are sent to Anthropic's API to generate your personalised study plan. This data is sent as an anonymised performance summary — your name and email are not included in the API request. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
4. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in while you use the Platform. This cookie is essential for the service to function and does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
5. Data retention
We retain your account data and exam results for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g. purchase records).
6. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Bcrypt password hashing
- Prepared statements to prevent SQL injection
- Restricted database access
No system is completely secure. If you have reason to believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@clevency.com.
7. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Payment processor — processes card payments securely. We receive only a payment confirmation; we never see or store your card details.
- Anthropic API — generates AI study plans from your anonymised exam performance data.
- Google Fonts — loads fonts for the website interface. Google may log font requests per their privacy policy.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

9. Children
The Platform is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete that information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
